PRIVATE YOGA IN BRISTOL
One-to-One Yoga, Pilates & Somatic Movement with Fay Rosamond

A private practice shaped entirely around you.

Whether you're returning to movement, completely new to yoga, looking to build strength and mobility, or simply longing for an hour in your week to breathe, move and reconnect, I offer individual sessions from my space in Bristol or in the comfort of your own home.

With over 12 years' experience teaching yoga and a lifelong background in dance and movement, I weave Vinyasa Yoga, Pilates-inspired strengthening, somatic movement, breathwork, restorative practices and deep relaxation into a practice responsive to your body and your needs.

Who is Private Yoga For?

Private sessions are open to all levels of experience — including complete beginners. You do not need to be flexible, strong or already practising yoga.

One-to-one sessions can be particularly supportive if you:

  • Are completely new to yoga and would like to learn at your own pace

  • Want to build strength, mobility, balance and flexibility

  • Would like more individual attention than is possible in a group class

  • Are returning to movement after time away

  • Want to deepen or refine an existing yoga practice

  • Feel overwhelmed, stressed or disconnected and want space to slow down

  • Would like to explore Pilates, somatic movement or restorative yoga

  • Prefer the privacy and comfort of practising at home

  • Have a particular intention or area of your practice you would like to explore

Every session is shaped around you, your body and what you need that day.

What Can a Private Session Include?

Your session can draw from a range of practices depending on your needs, experience and intentions.

This may include:

  • Vinyasa Yoga — flowing movement connected with the breath

  • Yoga foundations — alignment, technique and confidence with key postures

  • Pilates-inspired movement — strength, stability and core awareness

  • Somatic movement — gentle, exploratory movement and embodied awareness

  • Mobility and flexibility

  • Breathwork and pranayama

  • Restorative Yoga and deep rest

  • Meditation and guided relaxation

  • Sound and gong relaxation, where appropriate

  • Developing a simple home practice you can continue between sessions

We can keep the practice strong and dynamic, quiet and restorative, or move between the two.

About Fay

I am a Bristol-based senior yoga teacher, movement facilitator and dancer with over 12 years of yoga teaching experience and a lifelong background in movement.

My approach brings together the traditions of yoga with my experience in contemporary dance, somatic movement, Pilates-inspired practice, restorative yoga, breath and sound.

I hold a 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training qualification and have taught students with a wide range of ages, bodies and levels of experience.

Rather than asking your body to fit a predetermined practice, I am interested in finding a practice that works with your individual body, experience and intentions.

Private sessions allow us the time to explore this with care and individual attention.

A Body-Centred Approach

My work with yoga sits within a much longer relationship with the body, movement, touch and embodied practice.

Alongside more than twelve years of teaching yoga and a lifelong background in dance, my experience has included Thai Yoga Massage, therapeutic bodywork, somatic movement, restorative practices and hands-on approaches to the body.

This has shaped the way I teach one-to-one. I am interested not simply in achieving a posture, but in how your body moves, where it holds effort, where movement feels restricted or uncertain, and how breath, attention and carefully chosen movement can create greater ease and possibility.

Working With the Individual Body

Private sessions give us the space to slow things down and really observe.

Depending on what you need, our work might explore:

  • Posture, alignment and individual movement patterns

  • Strength, stability and mobility

  • Areas of habitual tension or restriction

  • Breath and its relationship to movement

  • Somatic awareness and nervous-system regulation

  • Restorative and deeply restful practices

  • Pilates-inspired strengthening and support

  • Yoga sequencing designed specifically for your body

  • Appropriate hands-on guidance, with your consent

  • Developing a personal practice you can use at home

My background in dance, yoga and bodywork means I tend to see the body as an interconnected whole rather than a collection of separate parts. Sometimes a session will be dynamic and strengthening; sometimes slower, more exploratory and restorative.

Movement as a Form of Healing

I might be slightly careful with the word healing commercially — not because you can't use it, but because you don't want to imply that you're medically treating or curing conditions.

I'd express that part of your philosophy more like this:

I believe the body holds an extraordinary capacity for adaptation, awareness and change. Movement can become a way of listening — a conversation between breath, sensation, strength, emotion and attention.

Through yoga, somatic movement, restorative practice and my experience of therapeutic bodywork, I aim to create conditions in which you can become more deeply acquainted with your own body: developing strength where it is needed, creating space where there is holding, and cultivating greater ease, confidence and connection within yourself.

This is one of the things I value most about working privately. Rather than following a predetermined class, the practice begins with the person in front of me.
